HHC BDE had an extremely productive April drill and May’s looks to be just as busy. In the coming months expect to hear many rumors about the deployment and our pre-deployment preparations may change quite a bit. Please stay flexible. We will do our best to dispel rumors and keep information flowing.
In the next few months drill, exercises, gunnery, and AT may take you away from your employer more than your employer would like. The ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) on Gowen Field can help you with Guard/employer conflicts. Their phone number is 272-3346.
For those of you who did not pass the PT test in April be prepared to do remedial PT and take a diagnostic APFT test this drill.
The Commander and I will be at Captains Course during this drill weekend. As a result the PT Test will be administered by SGM Kish on Saturday morning at 0600.
Yes, it’s that time of the month again. Formation will be at 1900. The drill hall is still filled with all the equipment you saw last drill, so stay out of the taped off area. We fell short on getting everyone updated with the H1N1 vaccinations, so we’ll be getting that taken care of Saturday of drill. If you’ve received a shot from a civilian provider, bring in documentation so it can be entered into your shot record. About 85 of you still haven’t cleared your clothing records through Supply. See SSG Haney this drill and get righteous. Check the bulletin board to see if you’re on the list.
There are still a lot of you that have to go through the pre-deployment training and all of you having been hitting it hard. Thank you for your efforts and maintain focus to get these tasks accomplished. The training schedule will be posted on the bulletin board along with rosters of the folks who need to attend specific training. There are HUGE training events in DANGER CLOSE range…BCSoSIT/CPX, Gunnery. Our training time is running thin and we still have a ways to go. Everyone who needs an NCOES course has been loaded and now we get to wait for a RESERVED status. MOS-T courses are being loaded for soldiers who require re-classification.
From here on out, Pre-Drill will be scheduled 10 days prior to our scheduled monthly drill, starting at 1700 hours. Additionally, Leader’s Call will be 30 minutes prior to each day’s first formation. I look forward to seeing your smiling faces Friday evening. Until then, be safe and healthy so I can once again tell you on the afternoon of 2 May, “Home, Drive, Safe!!”
Last month was a huge success with respect to our clothing and OCIE records. We were able to update almost 75%of the unit. Now for the rest of you, who have neglected to come to supply and take care of your clothing and OCIE issues, this month we will be printing statement of charges for the obsolete items that have not been turned in by the end of May drill. The only exception to this will be those fortunate soldiers who are TDY or otherwise excused from drill. The names are on the bulletin board of those who have not been marked with a highlighter as a GO at this station.
Please be prepared to receive the items that you turned in for replacement, i.e. knee/elbow pads, goretex pants. Also all soldiers will need to sign their clothing record after receiving their issue and also to update the changes to your clothing record.
If you have any requests or needs, yes I said NEEDS, come in and we will take care of you the best we can.
Thanks for the support and patience.
